Welcome to our Foundation’s web site, which we hope will prove helpful to a wide range of people interested in Palliative Care.

When our Volunteer Service was formed in 1986, the mobile phone had not been invented, never mind the World Wide Web. We can now provide, via this new communications medium, easy access to information and services available locally.

From inception, the Central Coast Palliative Care Foundation Board has been dedicated to developing and maintaining its Volunteer Service and supporting other providers of Palliative Care. We collectively support those impacted by the loss or impending loss of a loved one. Our partnership with the NSCCAHS Palliative Care Service in particular, has been pivotal in our services direction and thus fund raising activities throughout this period.

In Australia, Palliative Care, as a distinct medical speciality is relatively new, having only been officially recognised as such in the 1990’s. The use of highly trained volunteer support workers in this field has grown significantly over the past two decades as a result of applying what is known to be “worlds best practice in Palliative Care”. We remain dedicated as a Foundation towards enhancing local palliative care services and in raising public awareness generally about Palliative Care and dealing with grief and loss.

The Foundation’s activities are entirely funded by public donations and fund raising. Any donations, whether large or small, will directly impact on improving services at the local Central Coast level. We are a recognised charity and all donations are tax deductible.
